Draw Selection

Draw Tab: At the top of the map, click on the Draw Tab to draw selections on the map.
Draw Button: When the "Draw Tab" is selected, the "Add Selection" button in the top left hand corner of the map is replaced by the "Draw Button" (which becomes selected by default). Points can be drawn on the map when this button is selected.
Click on the Map: Click on the map to draw the first point. The point will be shown on the map with a white plus as shown in the image on the far left. Continue to draw a line by clicking on the map to add additional points. The white plus will move to the recently added point and a thick black and white line will show the line that has been traced. Complete the selection by drawing either a rectangle, line, or polygon as shown below.

Drawing Shapes

Rectangle: Drawing a rectangle only requires clicking two points. Click a point that will be one of the corners of the rectangle and click the point that will be the opposite corner. A diagonal will be shown on the map. You can choose any of the opposite corners and can draw the line in any direction. Once done, click on the

button to complete the selection. This button appears below the map only if two points have been drawn.
Line: Simply continue to click points to trace the desired line. Once complete, click on

to complete the selection. This button appears below the map if two or more points have been drawn. Drawing a line can be useful to quickly select data in an island group or along a coastline.
Polygon: Draw a line to trace out the ring of the desired polygon. Do not draw the final line segment; this will be done automatically. Once complete, click on

to complete the selection. This button will appear below the map when at least three points have been drawn. To be valid, a polygon cannot have lines that intersect itself.

Removing Points

If you are not satisfied with the last point drawn, click on this button to remove it.
To remove all points and start over, click on this button.

Zooming or Panning the Map While Drawing

If you need to zoom or re-center while drawing, click on the "Zoom" or "Pan" button and adjust the location of the map. Once done, click the "Draw" button to continue drawing.

After A Selection Has Been Made

After a selection has been made, the "Draw" button will be unselected and additional clicks will pan the map. To clear out the current selection and redraw, click back on the "Draw" button.

Selection List: The selection made will appear in the selection list below the map. Each row in the list may have the following buttons described below:
Add Another Button: The row with the current selection will have this button. Click this button to keep this selection and to draw another shape. Additional selections drawn will also be shown in the selection list.
