Differences from ESDI Version 1

If you have used ESDI Version 1, you should feel comfortable with the new version. Must functions behave in a similar fashion with a few exceptions in the Map Search. Below are three items you should be aware of before using the Map Search in ESDI Version 2.

Tabbed Interface: All query parameters in the old version were presented on the same page. In the new version, parameters are grouped by categories and organized under tabs. Click on the tabs at the top of the map to show the different query parameters.
You must make an explicit selection: In the old version, zooming in acted as a filter. By zooming in you could reduce the number of images on the map and if there were only a few, you could click "Preview and Download" to view the all scenes shown on the map. In the new version, zooming in does not act as a filter and a selection must be made before "Preview and Download" becomes active. If you wish to select all items on the map, see Select Window Button.
Differences in coverage behavior: The images at the right show a query for TM data for WRS Path 15, Row 33. In the old version, coverage was only shown for scenes matching the query. In the new version, coverage for all scenes are always shown. The selection is shown by a thick yellow line and matching scenes are shown in a darker color. The new version does not show density of data at a location like the old version did.

Items from workspaces in the old version have been migrated to the new version and have all been placed in a folder named "Workspace". See Additional Features to learn about the new folders feature with the Workspace. Also be aware that the length of time that an idle session will remain active has be shortened to thirty (30) minutes. This version has a complete user's guide; access it at any time by pressing the "Help" button in the top right hand corner of every screen or by pressing the question mark button found on many of the screens.
